We have been thinking about all the terrible and idiotic stuff that happens in the world and how it could also happen to people who visit Ideasplace and in turn cause us hassle and headaches that we really don't want.

To that end we insist that you read the stuff below before doing literally anything else on the site (by order of the management).

Because Ideasplace is not funded (except out of our own pockets!), we are not paid to post any links or endorse anything and so there is no sponsorship (read 'shilling') for any company or organisation listed here, all information including web links and articles are posted and maintained for our own **convenience**, if you find them useful too then that is great, we are glad you do.

Web links to external sites are not in any particular order of preference, they are just a list that grows over time - we are not playing favourites! Occasionally we may 'tidy things up' a little and so re-organise stuff a bit but this is for access or neatness reasons. We will try and keep links consistent over time, however there may be occasions when links do change due to more significant updates to the wiki. Some stuff may be linked in multiple places where appropriate.

No Tracking or spamming

Apart from use within the MediaWiki software used to run and maintain the site - which may maintain cookies and some server-end statistics - we do not record, keep or use any user information for nefarious purposes. We don't have a mailing list nor do we spam users or advertise to our visitors in any way and nor do we look at what you are doing - that is not what this is all for. We are too busy with our own stuff to do all that.

You can probably tell from the way this 'ABOUT' page has been written that we are not in any imagination lawyers, we don't have a lawyer and hopefully we won't need a lawyer and even if we did need one I have no idea how we would fund one anyway. Don't sue us for something you did because you saw it through a link on Ideasplace, there is no money to pay you even if you do and we would rather not go to prison for something stupid.

Remember please that Ideasplace is a private hobby site and you are just visitor in our home, it's nice you are here and you are most welcome, but at the end of the day we have no idea who you are and you have to take responsibility for your own actions, our advice would be to listen to that voice in your head that says "this is a bad idea no matter what the internet says" and don't do it, what ever it is. That's what we do and we have not had to complain to ourselves for the course of our own actions, yet.

If for some reason site traffic does start to make things monetarily unsupportable, we may look to provide some way of donating to the site or merchandising it at some point, it's a non-problem currently so is far off the LIDAR, but you never know. Doing this would probably involve commercialisation or some form of charitable status which is a lot of faffing around. It would have to be really bad to make us entertain that.

Note on content: for those of us posting pages of textual or pictoral content onto this wiki: Please ensure you have an explicit rights to use the content you are posting. All rights reserved by their respective copyright holders. Do not post any text or images you didn't create yourself or know for 100% sure are open source and you can use it. Be sure to provide attribution (..and even then, that stuff often has a license attached.). If site moderators see something that they suspect to be contentious, we will remove it - no matter how long you spent making it look nice on this platform. It usually is better and far safer to just provide a link to the content, we are not in this for the view counts so let the original site earn on the click-thrus for their hard work generating original content. Ideasplace's owners cannot afford to fight legal battles just because someone posted another person or organisations's content, in good faith or other, without permission. Lecture over.
